January Hike

The four of us spent the afternoon hiking on the Appalachian Trail near Catawba today. The weather for January has been just amazing! We started out having a blast, until Caitlin decided to climb up onto a tree. She fell off backward knocking the wind out of herself. She was quite terrified at first, but was o.k. after a few minutes. We were able to continue for another hour or so. The kids both had a really good time, as did Rich and I. Here we've lived so close to a great place to hike, and we've only been there twice with the kids. That will change because the kids love hiking. Especially Jared who just runs along, checking out every rock and plant. It is so cute! We have to constantly tell him to slow down and wait for us. I'm sure real winter weather isn't far away, so we're going to enjoy it as much as possible. In fact, we might just camp out in the backyard tonight!
